Frequently Asked Questions
What are Lip Fillers?
Lip filler are a fantastic way of subtly plumping the lips with a substance called Hyaluronic acid, (HA). HA is a naturally occurring substance within the human skin, and is important for holding moisture within the skin. Lip fillers can be used to plump up and reshape the lips for a more desired look.
Dermal fillers especially designed for use in the lips can be used to plump up and reshape the lips. The results are dramatic and usually last up to 6 months. As the lips are a sensitive part of the body, dental anaesthetic is administered before your treatment which will make the procedure completely painless. This is an extremely popular treatment and can make a huge difference to your overall look.
What Happens During A Lip Filler Treatment?
A thorough medical history will be taken by one of our medical team to ensure you are suitable to receive lip fillers, and the outcome/potential side effects will be explained. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. The injections are very quick and virtually painless as the filler is mixed with a local anaesthetic (lidocaine). There may be some swelling or bruising for 1-2 days after the treatment, but this is usually mild and settles quickly.
Are Lip Fillers Safe?
When performed by appropriately trained medical practitioners, lip fillers are very safe. Unlike silicone (a filler previously used in cosmetic medicine) HA fillers are made from a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. This means that the filler will eventually be broken down by the body, so if you decide you prefer not to continue to have your lines filled, simply wait a few months and the filler will disappear.
Full aftercare instructions are given following lip filler treatment. Although you are more than welcome to get in touch if you have any questions, no follow-up is usually needed at the clinic.
How Long Do The Results Last?
Depending on the various factors and the type of product used, filler usually last from between 6-18 months.
